My Halloween Costume Dilemma [PICTURES]

Jenny Harding for TSM

Just more proof that procrastination isn’t always a bad thing! I have been talking about this Halloween Party, Monster Bash, we were putting on here at the radio station for over a month now. So since it was Saturday night, I decided last week I should actually start looking for a costume. Well, I got one… One hour before I needed to be at the party!

I knew I really wanted to be Paul Stanley from the band Kiss this year. So, I started looking at costumes online, and they were all around $70. So instead of ordering one, I decided I would look around town. I went to three different Halloween stores in Greeley, and they had nothing. By this time it was Wednesday, and it was now too late to order a costume online. So I had to change plans.

I decided I would go back to one of my best costumes from a previous Halloween. Back 5 or 6 years ago I was Borat. You know the crazy Kazakhstan guy played by Sasha Baron Cohen. Anyways, the first time I was Borat I won a costume contest so I knew since I was short on time I could pull that one off again. I also knew I still had the wig that was perfect from when I was Borat before, but I needed a new suit. So, off to the thrift store I went. $14 later I had a suit I could use to be Borat. Now it was Friday, the day before the party, and I decided I should look for my wig. Couldn’t find it… So I knew I had seen an actual Borat wig at one of the Halloween stores. I went to get it, and they were sold out. I ended up buying a 70′s disco wig and a fake mustache for $35.

The next day I watched Borat and prepared to get into character. Then it was about an hour before I needed to be on my way to Monster Bash I decided to start getting ready. The expensive wig I bought wasn’t going to cut it! I had to go to a different Halloween store as fast as I could to see if I could find a better wig. No luck!

But, at this Halloween store I saw on the sale rack a costume for a rock star, and that’s when it hit me that I could use this to make my original idea, but I had one problem. no time! I thought I would try. So I bought the costume, a wig, and Kiss make-up. Another $35. I quickly ran to the craft store to get stars to decorate my new costume and ran home.

Somehow I got the costume thrown together, put the makeup on, and made it to Monster Bash. I probably took 500 pictures with people who loved my last second costume. After spending way more than I wanted to on two costumes, one of which I will never wear, and throwing everything together last minute (literally) I would say my costume this year was a success!

Here are pictures from this years Monster Bash…
